Paxton doubles twice, but Valley baseball drops opener to Jimtown

Jimtown 7, Tippecanoe Valley 3 (Friday): Hunter Paxton doubled twice, and Jamison Phillips also had two hits, but the host Vikings fell to conference rival Jimtown in their season opener Friday.
Parker Adamson and Brylan Alderfer each had a hit and an RBI. Braxton Alderfer, Weston Brown and Max Harsh each had a single.
Paxton took the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs in six innings. He walked three, hit a batter and struck out two.
Preston Prater relieved and allowed two hits and three runs (all earned) in one inning. He walked two, hit two batters and struck out two.
Valley cut a 4-1 deficit to 4-3 in the sixth when Brylan Alderfer had an RBI single and later scored on an error, but Jimtown responded with three runs in the seventh.
Dalton Cook allowed two earned runs over 5 ⅓ innings for the win.
Jimtown is a reigning Class 2A sectional champion.
