Caston 45, Pioneer 32 (Dec. 3): Ashlynn Brooke scored a game-high 15 points, but the Pioneer girls basketball team fell to Caston in the Cass County Invitational final at
Logansport on Dec. 3.
Gracie Hopper added 10 points for the Lady Panthers.
Caston led 20-19 at halftime and 30-28 after three quarters before outscoring Pioneer 15-4 in the fourth quarter.
The loss snapped Pioneer’s 11-game winning streak against Caston and Pioneer’s run of four straight Cass County Invitational titles.
Brooke and Hopper were both named to the all-tournament team.
Pioneer’s Brooklyn Borges missed the game after suffering a knee injury against Logansport three days earlier. Pioneer coach Jeff Brooke told the Pharos-Tribune that Borges was able to walk but that it was a “question mark” whether Borges would miss the rest of the season.
Isabel Scales had 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for Caston and won tournament MVP honors. Caston won the tournament for the first time in school history.
