Pioneer finishes 3rd at Twin Lakes sectional, sends 5 to regional

The Pioneer boys wrestling team scored 119.5 points and finished third out of nine teams at the Twin Lakes sectional Saturday.

Rensselaer won their ninth consecutive sectional title and their 17th in school history with 273.5 points. Benton Central was second with 193.5.

Pioneer had no individual champions, but they did advance five wrestlers to the regional.

Pioneer wrestlers advancing included runners-up Chase VanMeter (157), Noah VanMeter (175) and Brady Price (215); third-place finisher Hunter Ward (120); and fourth-place finisher Tyler Schnurpel (HWT).

The top four finishers in each weight class advanced to the regional at Logansport at 10 a.m. this Saturday.
