Rochester JV scores 9 in first, beats Caston

Rochester 10, Caston 1 (JV, Saturday): Callen Ferverda singled and doubled and drove in three runs, and Brady Gamble had two hits and two RBIs for the visiting Zebras in a five-inning win in a JV game against the host Comets Saturday.

Conner Dunfee and James Gardner each added a hit and two RBIs. Trenton Meadows walked three times and drove in a run. Gavin Mollenkopf had a hit and a run scored.

Brant Beck pitched three scoreless innings for the win. He walked none and struck out six. Dunfee pitched the final two innings and allowed three hits and a run. He walked two and struck out five.

Lucius Edson went 2 for 2 for Caston. Eli Holloway had a hit and an RBI, and Drew McGrew also had a hit and a run scored.

Holloway was knocked out in the first inning after getting the first two outs. He allowed two hits and nine runs (three earned) while walking six and striking out two. Carson Harness pitched 2 ⅓ scoreless innings with no walks, a hit batter and three strikeouts. McGrew allowed four hits and one run over two innings while walking one, hitting two batters and striking out one.
