Seuferer’s 3 doubles lead Rochester past Peru

Jake Seuferer had three doubles and three RBIs, and Brayden Zink had two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Rochester baseball team in a 12-2 win in six innings over host Peru on May 17.

Aaron Huffman pitched a five-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts on the mound.

Rochester improved to 14-5 overall and 6-2 in the Three Rivers Conference. Peru fell to 6-12, 3-5.

Tarick McGlothin also had two hits and a run scored for the Zebras. Evan Elliott and Luke Hunting each had a hit and an RBI. Tanner Reinartz singled and walked twice and scored three runs. Hunter Campbell and Colton Ferverda each had a hit.

Rochester outhit Peru 12-5. Peru pitchers also walked five and hit three batters. The Zebras also benefitted from three Tiger errors.

Rochester scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed. Peru scored both of their runs off Huffman in the bottom of the first, but Rochester scored once in the second, one in the third and four times in the fourth before finishing off the game with a three-run sixth.

Rochester has won three of the last four meetings with Peru.

The game was originally scheduled for May 16 but was postponed by one day to wet grounds.

Wabash wrapped up the outright TRC title with a 7-3 win over North Miami on Monday.
