Braden Shepherd scored a career-high 20 points to lead four players in double figures, and Dawson Perkins contributed a triple-double as the Tippecanoe Valley boys

basketball team knocked off West Noble 60-55 in a Class 3A, Sectional 21 quarterfinal at Wawasee Tuesday.

Valley trailed 53-52 in the fourth quarter but closed the game with an 8-2 run with all eight points coming on free throws.

Valley made all 16 of their free throw attempts in the second half and went 24 for 26 for the game.

Nolan Cumberland scored 14 points, Tayde Kiser had 13, and Perkins had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots in 20 minutes of playing time. Perkins committed four fouls and also left briefly in the fourth quarter due to injury before later returning.

Dom Welk also hit a pair of free throws in the fourth quarter.

Austin Cripe scored 30 points, and Bradyn Barth had 14 for West Noble, who led 26-22 at halftime.

Valley improved to 14-9. West Noble, who finished the regular season on a five-game winning streak, finished 14-9.

This was the first meeting between Valley and West Noble since the 2010 sectional.

Valley will play No. 3 NorthWood (22-2), who received a bye, in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Valley lost to NorthWood 55-45 in their regular season meeting at Valley on Feb. 15. NorthWood has won the sectional in three of the last four years.
