North Miami 13, Southwood 2 (6 innings, Saturday): Logan Smith hit a two-run homer as part of a five-run fifth, and Quinn Hostetler had three hits and two RBIs for the Warriors in a win over Southwood in a Class 1A, Sectional 55 semifinal at Daleville Saturday.
Keaton Floor also had two hits and two RBIs. Ryan Meredith had two hits and an RBI, and Jordan Simon had a hit and an RBI.
Jension Carr doubled and walked, and Braylon McIntire also had a double. Lake Musall and Evan Chumbley had one hit each.
North Miami stole five bases and took advantage of eight Southwood errors that led to eight unearned runs.
Hostetler threw 98 pitches in a complete-game four-hitter. He walked four, hit three batters and struck out 10.
Southwood (2-16) rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Southern Wells 7-6 in the quarterfinals Friday, but they did not score after the first inning in this game.
Musall scored from second on an error to give North Miami a 3-2 lead in the fifth, and Smith followed with his long ball. Floor’s two-out, two-run double later in the inning, which followed Chumbley reaching on an error, made it 7-2.
North Miami scored six more runs in the sixth. Hostetler had a two-run single in the inning, and Simon and Meredith also had RBI singles.
North Miami will face Daleville at 5 p.m. today in the sectional final. The Broncos eliminated No. 6 Cowan 4-1 in the other semifinal.
