Boys basketball
Rochester senior forward Quin Stesiak was nominated for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Franciscan Health player of the week award for District 1 boys.
Stesiak scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds in the Zebras’ 47-30 loss to Rossville in a Class 2A regional semifinal at Lapel High School Saturday.
The award went to Fort Wayne Blackhawk senior Caleb Furst.
Football
Kelly’s resignation official: Rochester football coach Sean Kelly’s resignation was officially accepted at Monday’s school board meeting.
Kelly resigned due to “personal reasons,” per a statement from RHS athletic director Ryan Johnson.
RTC first reported Kelly’s resignation on Feb. 26.
Rochester went 4-15 in two seasons under Kelly.
Wrestling
Horns wrestle at Folkstyle State finals: Tanner and Layne Horn wrestled at the Indiana State Wrestling Association Folkstyle State finals Sunday.
Tanner Horn took second at the Intermediate 71 weight class. Layne Horn was the state champion in the Schoolboy 87 class.
