Boys basketball
Frontier 44, Caston 40 (Tuesday): Caleb Stinson scored 16 points, and Talon Zeider added 14, but the Caston boys basketball team lost to Frontier in a Class 1A, Sectional 52 quarterfinal at West Central Tuesday.
Cain Schanlaub added eight points, and Rowan Jellison had two.
Dayton Hoover scored 18 points, and Justin Schroeder added 12 for the Falcons. Drew Turner scored six of his eight in the fourth quarter.
Frontier went 9 for 12 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. They made more free throws (14) than Caston attempted (8).
Frontier led 25-8 at halftime, but Stinson and Zeider combined to make four 3-pointers in the third quarter as Caston shaved the lead to 31-28.
Caston finished 8-15. This marked the final prep game for Schanlaub, Jellison, Colby Pugh, Evan Howard, Jackson Rentschler and Brady Evans.
Frontier also beat Caston 52-46 in overtime on Dec. 10 in their regular season meeting.
Frontier improved to 11-12. They will play Tri-County (10-12) in a semifinal at 6 p.m. Friday.
In the other quarterfinal, West Central defeated South Newton 59-36 and will meet North White in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
