Smith wins 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, but Valley girls fall to Huntington North

Makena Smith won three blue ribbons, but the Valley girls swimming team lost a home meet to Huntington North Thursday. In addition, Kendall Craig won the 200 freestyle in 2:19.36, and Shayleigh Honeycutt won diving.
Smith took both the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke and joined Maddie Woodward, Craig and Honeycutt on the victorious 200 freestyle relay team.
In the boys meet, Valley won 11 of the 12 events to take the meet. Karl Parker, Carson Parker and Brandon Hoffman won each won four blue ribbons. Karl Parker took both the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. Carson Parker won both the 200 and 500 freestyles. Hoffman won both the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Logan Hummitch won three blue ribbons, winning the diving competition and joining Karl Parker, Carson Parker and Hoffman on the victorious 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
Eric Burke won the 50 freestyle and joined Bobby Burke, Grayson Sriver and Grady McGriff on the winning 200 freestyle relay team.

TRC to hold boys, girls meets on separate days: The TRC announced Friday that its girls and boys swimming meets will be held on separate days.
The girls meet will be held at 5 p.m. Jan. 22. The boys meet will start at 9 a.m. Jan. 23. Maconaquah High School will host both meets.
This is the first time in conference history that these meets have been separated. The TRC became a swimming conference during the 2015-16 school year when Maconaquah joined.
