Valley sports briefs: Wagoner has 9 kills, but Lady Vikes fall to NorthWood in sectional semis

Volleyball

NorthWood def. Tippecanoe Valley, 25-20, 25-12, 25-11 (Saturday): Delaney Wagoner had nine kills and three aces, but the Valley volleyball team lost to NorthWood in three games in a Class 3A, Sectional 21 semifinal at Valley Saturday.

Hayley Backus had three blocks. Brayden Baney had 14 digs, Hannah Engstrand had 11, and Bree Sheetz had 10. Engstrand, Valley’s single-season and career leader in assists, had 18 assists.

Wawasee beat Lakeland 25-22, 15-25, 30-28, 26-24 in the second semifinal. NorthWood then went on to beat Wawasee 25-20, 26-24, 22-25, 23-25, 15-12 in the sectional final.
