Wabash 3, Caston 0 (Thursday): Bailey Zimpleman had 15 saves in goal, but the visiting Comets fell to Wabash Thursday.
“We had a markedly better second half,” Caston coach Narciso Sanchez said in a statement. “We made some adjustments to create some more chances in the offensive third. We moved to three forwards to try to pressure Wabash's defensive line. Rowan Jellison was given a penalty kick, but we were unable to convert on his play. The adjustments did provide us with many more chances, but unfortunately none resulted in scores.
“Our touches were a little lacking and it made us work harder than we needed to gain possession of the ball.
“We did a lot better in second and we hope to build on what we did well and work to address our errors before our next match.”
Wabash led 2-0 at halftime.
Wabash hosts Rochester at noon Saturday.
Maconaquah 4, Valley 3 (OT, Thursday): Jon Ruiz and Caleb Petgen scored, and Valley also tallied an own goal, but visiting Maconaquah claimed the Three Rivers Conference win Thursday.
Maconaquah rallied from deficits of 2-0 and 3-1. They scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with eight seconds left in the first overtime.
Valley was without two starters, according to coach Andrew Luce.
“Valley has been competitive in every game so far this young season, but is still searching for win number one,” Luce said in a statement. “Next up for the Vikings is a home date with North Miami Tuesday.”
Argos 3, Lakeland Christian 0 (Thursday): Michael Richard, Devon Allen and Teddy Redinger each had a goal for the Class 1A, No. 2 Dragons (5-1, 2-0 Northern Indiana Soccer Conference) in a home win over Lakeland Christian Thursday.
Caden Nifong and Sean Richard each had an assist.
Argos had a 16-0 advantage in shots on goal.
Lakeland Christian dropped to 4-2, 1-2.
Elkhart Christian 1, Culver 0 (Thursday): Jaden Chamberlin scored in the 37th minute for the only goal in Elkhart Christian’s win over Culver Thursday.
Caston 2, Argos 0 (junior high, Thursday): Jan Aguilar and Zach Rogers each had a goal for the Caston junior high in a win over Argos Thursday.
Aguilar scored in the first half. Rogers’ goal came on a penalty kick in the second half.
