Argos sports briefs: Softball game vs. Bethany Christian postponed

Baseball game vs. North Miami moved up to Friday

Bethany Christian at Argos, ppd.: The Bethany Christian-Argos softball game scheduled for Thursday has been postponed. No makeup date has been set.

Knox 16, Argos 6 (5 innings, Tuesday): Madisyn Barcus went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and

Allison Zahm had a double and two walks for Argos in a road loss to Knox Tuesday.

Makena Lineberry and Kadyn Baughman also had RBIs. Kara Sabanski also had a hit. The Lady Dragons also drew six walks and were hit by two pitches.

Argos committed eight errors, which led to five unearned runs for Knox.

Knox led 10-0 after three innings.

Argos 23, South Bend Career Academy 2 (5 innings, Monday): Kadyn Baughman had four hits and three RBIs, and Carleigh Miller and Madisyn Barcus had four RBIs each for the visiting Lady Dragons in a Hoosier Plains win over South Bend Career Academy.

Miller had three singles, and Barcus had two singles. Kara Sabanski contributed two hits and three RBIs. Allison Zahm had two hits and two RBIs. Makena Lineberry and Carlie Rex had three hits and an RBI apiece.

Kelly Snavely, Avery Ness and Brylee Elliott had one hit each. Ness and Elliott each had an RBI.

Miller pitched a one-hitter with four walks and four strikeouts for the win. Both runs she allowed were unearned.

Argos scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed.

Argos 7, Elkhart Christian 3 (Saturday): Allison Zahm had three hits – two singles and a triple – at the plate and also pitched a three-hitter with 11 walks and nine strikeouts for the Lady Dragons in a Hoosier Plains road win over Elkhart Christian Saturday.

Lily McMillen had a single, a double and two runs scored. Kadyn Baughman, Carleigh Miller and Kara Sabanski each had a hit and an RBI. Kendra Burkholder also had an RBI. Makena Lineberry and Madison Barcus each had a hit.

Argos scored four runs in the top of the third inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Argos turned more double plays (two) than they had errors (one).

Zahm took the loss in the circle. She allowed 16 hits and 18 runs (14 earned) in 4 ⅔ innings. She walked six and struck out four. Aleasia Sarver walked all three batters she faced. Carleigh Miller hit the only batter she faced.

Already leading 12-11, Bethany Christian scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

The game featured 23 walks, two hit batters and 22 wild pitches.

Bethany Christian at Argos, ppd.: The Bethany Christian-Argos baseball game scheduled for Wednesday was postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been set.

Elkhart Christian 6, Argos 0 (Friday): Jackson Kindig and Dylan Kindig each had a hit for Argos in a home loss to Elkhart Christian Friday.

Dylan Kindig allowed five hits and five runs over five innings and took the loss. Kurt Johnson allowed one run in 1 ⅓ innings, and Kayden Brady struck out the only two batters he faced in the seventh.
