B. Erickson fans 12, outduels DuVall in Pioneer’s win over Caston

Pioneer 2, Caston 1 (Tuesday): Caleb Sweet and Jake Erickson each had a hit and an RBI, and Brayden Erickson twirled a three-hitter with no walks and 12 strikeouts for the host Panthers in a Hoosier North home win over Caston Tuesday.

Brian Gluth singled in his only at-bat in the bottom of the sixth and scored. Brenton Gaumer also singled and walked.

Talon Zeider singled and drove in a run for Caston. Preston Holderfield doubled and scored a run. Caleb Stinson had a single.

DuVall pitched a four-hitter with four walks and 11 strikeouts. He has 32 strikeouts in 25 innings for the season.

All the runs were scored in the sixth inning.

Pioneer is 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the Hoosier North. Caston is 7-6, 4-3.

The rematch is 5 p.m. Monday at Caston.
