Caston beats Frontier, will play Tri-County next

Girls basketball

Caston 49, Frontier 30 (Tuesday): Maddi Smith led a balanced Caston offense with 10 points in a win over Frontier in a Class 1A, Sectional 52 quarterfinal at North White Tuesday.

Bailey Harness and Addison Zimpleman had nine points each, Isabel Scales had eight, and Abby Williamson had six points and a team-high five rebounds.

Zimpleman had a team-high seven assists.

Caston led 17-8 after one quarter and extended the lead to 30-13 at halftime.

Caston improved to 17-6. Emma Blissett had 14 points for Frontier, who finished 9-13.

Frontier has not won a sectional game since 2016.

Caston will play Tri-County, who received a bye, in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
