Caston’s Scales named Hoosier North MVP; Zimpleman, Douglass join her on all-conference team

Culver’s Sieber, Pioneer’s Strycker, Winamac’s Kroft also picked for first team

Caston senior Isabel Scales was named Hoosier North MVP in voting done by the conference’s coaches in a statement released to the media Tuesday.

In addition, teammates Madi Douglass and Addison Zimpleman joined her on the all-conference team. Caston, who won all seven of their conference games by an average margin of 25 points per game, was the only school to have three players on the first team.

In addition, senior guard Macee Hinderlider was named honorable mention.

Scales led Caston in scoring (15.2 ppg), rebounding (8.9 rpg), assists (3.7 apg) and steals (3.9 spg).

She finished her career with 1,413 career points.

Zimpleman, a senior guard, averaged 13.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.7 apg and 2.8 apg. Douglass, a freshman guard, averaged 9.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.5 apg and 3.8 spg.

Hinderlider averaged 4.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.7 apg and 2 spg.

Other area players recognized on the first team included Culver senior point guard Grace Sieber, Pioneer junior point guard Makenna Strycker and Winamac sophomore guard Kandace Kroft.

Strycker led Pioneer in scoring (13 ppg), assists (3.1 apg) and steals (2.8 spg).

Kroft averaged 9.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, a team-best 4 apg and 2.4 spg.

Kroft’s senior teammate Maggie Smith earned honorable mention status after averaging 7.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.7 apg and 2.7 spg.
