Shuman, Cadle run for 4 TDs each

Culver 68, South Newton 34 (Friday): Shane Shuman ran for 167 yards and four touchdowns, and Jason Cadle ran for 164 yards and four touchdowns as Culver set a school-record for points in a game in a win over visiting South Newton in a Class 1A, Sectional 41 quarterfinal Friday.
Blake Thompson added 63 yards and a score on just seven carries.
Culver had 470 yards of offense, all rushing.
Culver’s previous school record for points in a game was 60, which occurred in the 2019 sectional against Lake Station and a 1995 regular season game against John Glenn.
South Newton committed three turnovers while Culver had none.
Shuman had touchdown runs of 15, 22, 5 and 13 yards. Cadle had touchdown runs of 22, 27, 59 and 30 yards.
Culver led 54-20 at halftime.
Culver (3-5) will host South Central (Union Mills) in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. South Central beat Caston 40-6.
If Culver beats South Central, they will play the sectional final on the road against North Judson or Winamac on Nov. 5.
