Culver sports briefs: Lady Cavs beat Trinity Greenlawn behind Binkley, Shedrow

Girls basketball

Culver 41, Trinity Greenlawn 21 (Saturday): Baleigh Binkley scored 13 points, and Maddie Shedrow added 12 to lead the Culver girls basketball team to a home win over Trinity Greenlawn Saturday.

Binkley and Lizzie Pugh tied for the team lead with six rebounds each. Alina Pizur and Luci Overmyer had five boards each. Shedrow had four steals, and Binkley had three thefts.

Trinity Greenlawn scored seven points on nine percent shooting in the second half.

The win was the first for new Culver coach Shane Lowry.

Culver led 19-14 at halftime.

Both teams are 1-1.

Culver Academy 34, Culver 32 (Friday): Maddie Shedrow scored eight points, and Baleigh Binkley had seven, but the Lady Cavs lost their season opener to visiting Culver Academy Friday.

Kenzie Banks added six points, Luci Overmyer had five, Lizzie Pugh had four, and Aver Garland had two for the Lady Cavs.

Shedrow had seven rebounds, Pizur had six rebounds, and Pugh had five rebounds and five steals.

Culver committed 32 turnovers and made just four of 13 free throws.

Culver led 15-12 at halftime, but the Lady Eagles rallied to take a 27-23 lead after three quarters.
