Culver boys basketball coach Kyle Evans has resigned after four seasons to take an assistant coaching position at Marian University Ancilla.
Culver went 35-39 in four seasons under Evans, who also had previous head coaching stints at West Central, Caston and North Judson.
Culver went 9-14 in 2023-24. The season ended with a 61-54 loss to Triton in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 quarterfinal on Feb. 28.
Culver graduated all-RTC point guard Jack Rodgers and Brady Kindernay from last year’s team. Adria Guasp, a foreign exchange student from Spain, is also leaving the team.
Culver’s best team during Evans’ tenure was the 2022-23 team that went 12-13 and lost to Marquette Catholic in the sectional final.
Evans was a member of two sectional championship teams as a player at Argos in 2004 and 2005. He later graduated from West Central and played college football at Manchester University.
Evans will have the title assistant coach/head coach, developmental team at Marian Ancilla. He will join a new staff that includes head coach Aaron Butcher and associate coach Joel Grindle.
Butcher is the former athletic director at Tippecanoe Valley, and Grindle is the former boys basketball coach at Argos, North Montgomery and Plymouth.
Culver is one of two Hoosier North schools with a boys basketball coaching vacancy. Jason Breden left Argos to take the Knox boys coaching job last week.
Argos is joining the Hoosier North for 2024-25.
