Culver senior Kaylee Hamilton signed with Indiana University South Bend Thursday to continue her academic and soccer careers.
Hamilton had 30 goals and 14 assists last fall for the Lady Cavaliers, who went 12-3-1 before falling to Bremen in penalty kicks in a sectional quarterfinal.
Hamilton had 75 goals and 54 assists in 63 career varsity games.
“I chose IUSB because it was close to home, and I went to the campus there, it was a really good family aspect, and I just really enjoyed it,” Hamilton said. “All the girls talk to you. They’re really sweet, and they just include you as the team.”
Hamilton said she has been playing soccer since she was in preschool. She said she enjoys the bond she has created with the girls with whom she has played. She said soccer has always been “my thing.”
Hamilton said she wants to major in criminal justice.
“I just like the thrill of solving problems and just being there for people when they need problems solved, and it’s just always something I’ve been interested in,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton is one of two RTC area players who will play soccer at IUSB next season. Hamilton said that she will be both teammates and dorm mates with Rochester’s Amy Williams.
IUSB started its women’s soccer program in 2019. The team went 1-17 last year under coach Bobby Barnes.
Hamilton is the oldest of five children of Jennifer and Joe Hamilton. Younger sisters Madlin and Breana were teammates at Culver last fall.
