Caston 15, Knox 9 (May 6): Macee Hinderlider had four hits and three RBIs, and Isabel Scales and Kylee Logan both homered as part of a 21-hit attack for the Caston softball team in a Hoosier North road win over Knox on May 6.
Hinderlider had two singles, a double and a triple. Bailey Harness and Annie Harsh each had two doubles, a single and an RBI. Kinzie Mollenkopf also had three hits and an RBI.
Scales and Logan had two RBIs each.
Addison Zimpleman, Myli Rude and Haley Logan each had a hit and an RBI. Alexa Finke went 2 for 5.
Zimpleman earned the win in the circle, allowing 13 hits and nine earned runs. She walked three and struck out nine.
The win improved Caston’s Hoosier North record to 3-0 and made them the only remaining unbeaten team in conference play. Knox fell to 4-1 in the conference.
Caston scored in all seven innings. They scored two runs in the top of the first and never trailed.

Caston 17, Winamac 3 (5 innings, Tuesday): Kinzie Mollenkopf homered and singled and drove in four runs at the plate and also pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts in the circle for the Class 1A, No. 9 Caston softball team in a Hoosier North road win over Winamac at Winamac Town Park Tuesday.
Addison Zimpleman homered, singled twice and had four RBIs, and Bailey Harness had a single and a homer and two RBIs. Kylee Logan had two hits and two RBIs, and Annie Harsh had two singles, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI. Macee Hinderlider and Haley Logan each contributed two hits and an RBI
Caston scored six runs in the second inning and five more in the third to build an 11-0 lead.
Emma Goodman singled and doubled and drove in two of Winamac’s three runs in the bottom of the third.
This marks the first time Caston has won a road softball game at Winamac since the start of the Hoosier North in the 2015-16 school year.
Caston is 4-0 in the Hoosier North. They remain the only unbeaten in conference play.

‘Zimple’ popper: Caston star hits 2 homers, pitches no-hitter in win over Triton

Caston 6, Triton 0 (Thursday): Addison Zimpleman pitched a no-hitter and also hit a pair of solo homers for the Caston softball team in a Hoosier North home win over Triton Thursday.
Kinzie Mollenkopf also homered for the Lady Comets as part of a multi-hit game. Annie Harsh doubled and walked twice and drove in a run. Bailey Harness also had a double and an RBI.
Zimpleman threw 84 pitches, 56 of which were strikes. She walked one and struck out 13.
Triton pitcher Lena Doll fanned nine. She struck out seven different Caston batters at least once. Triton is 2-17, 2-4 Hoosier North.
Caston is 5-0 in the Hoosier North. They remain the only remaining unbeaten in the conference. Caston hosts Pioneer at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
A makeup date for their game with LaVille has not been set. The LaVille softball team is 2-13 and has not played a game since April 25, according to MaxPreps.

Caston 6, Oak Hill 3 (Friday): Kinzie Mollenkopf struck out 14 Lady Golden Eagles, Kylee Logan had three hits, and Macee Hinderlider homered for the Class 1A, No. 9 Caston softball team in a road win over a Class 3A opponent Friday.
Logan had two singles and a double. Hinderlider singled and homered. Alexa Finke had two singles.
Mollenkopf, Annie Harsh, Isabel Scales and Addison Zimpleman each had a single.
Mollenkopf allowed six hits and one walk.
Caston scored first in the third in the top of the third inning and added two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Oak Hill scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, but Caston held on to improve to 15-4.
The Lady Comets have won nine straight.
