North Miami softball beats Rochester behind Duncan’s 15 Ks, clinches TRC title

Lauren Duncan pitched a five-hitter with no walks and 15 strikeouts, and she also had two hits and a run scored at the plate to lead the North Miami softball team to a conference clinching 9-1 win over Rochester May 19.

Addison Miller had two hits and three RBIs, and Jerzi Trigg singled three times and drove in a run. Shyloe Hunt had a hit and two RBIs.

Senior Jaden Hetzner singled, walked three times and scored three runs.

Kallie Watson had a single and drove in the lone the Lady Z run in the fifth. Sydney Haughs had a double, and Mia Howdeshell, Haley Durkes and Emma Sells had one single each.

Howdeshell took the loss in the circle, allowing 11 hits and nine runs (six earned) over six innings. She walked five, hit a batter and fanned none.

North Miami improved to 15-9 overall and 9-0 in the Three Rivers Conference. Rochester fell to 8-9 and finished conference play 3-6.

North Miami has won the TRC the last three years it has been contested (2019, 2021, 2022), and they have gone 26-1 in conference games over that time.
