RHS boys tennis update: Zebras travel to Mac, suffer first loss

Maconaquah 5, Rochester 0 (Saturday)

Grant McCarter won a set at No. 1 singles, and Brock Bowers and Kyle Reinartz won a set at No. 1 doubles, but the Rochester boys tennis team lost to host Maconaquah 5-0 Saturday.

Both of those matches were decided in 10-point super tiebreakers.

Brayden Zink and Zak Daake lost in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Cody Smith and Drew Strasser lost in straight sets at No. 2 doubles.

RHS fell to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference.

The Zebras start a stretch of four matches in four days today with a road match against Tippecanoe Valley at 5 p.m. today.

RHS JV competes at Plymouth Invitational

RHS JV boys tennis players Calen Campbell, Robert Bozzo, Cade Johnson and Caleb Wilson all competed at the Plymouth JV Invitational Saturday.

Campbell lost in singles to Goshen (8-0), Plymouth (8-1) and Michigan City (8-2).

Bozzo beat Plymouth (8-3) but lost to Michigan City (8-3) and Culver Academy (8-0).

The doubles team of Johnson and Wilson lost to Northridge (8-0), Michigan City (8-1) and Goshen (8-0).

RHS 5, Wabash 0 (Wednesday)

The RHS boys tennis team swept host Wabash Wednesday, winning all four contested matches in straight sets.

Neither Brayden Zink at No. 2 singles nor the No. 1 doubles team of Brock Bowers and Kyle Reinartz lost a game.

Grant McCarter won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Zak Daake won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

RHS’ Cody Smith and Drew Strasser won the No. 2 doubles match by default.

RHS is 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the TRC.

Calen Campbell won a JV singles match.
