The Rochester wrestling team went 2-1 and finished in third place out of 12 teams at the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Class 1A team state duals at FRanklin Community High School Saturday.

Rochester was the No. 1 seed and undefeated in dual matches coming into the tournament.

They earned a first-round bye and then beat Prairie Heights 53-19 in the quarterfinals.

They then lost to No. 4 Tell City 38-36 in the semifinals before bouncing back to beat No. 2 Cascade 53-21 in the third-place match.

Tell City went on to win the team state title for the third straight year with a 49-27 win over Adams Central. It also marked the second straight year that Tell City beat Rochester at the team state duals.

They beat Rochester 36-33 in the state title match last year.

Rochester’s Brady Beck won his 100th career match during the tournament. He joins Ethan Holloway (120) and Greyson Gard (152) among current Zebras with 100 or more career wins.

Rochester will travel to Tippecanoe Valley for a dual at 6:30 p.m. tonight. The Three Rivers Conference tournament is at Maconaquah on Jan. 21.
