Rochester JV baseball scores 14 in 1st inning, beats Caston

Rochester 15, Caston 5 (JV, 5 innings, Saturday): Brady Gamble went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, and Adrian Ochoa singled, walked and drove in three runs for the Rochester JV baseball team in a win over visiting Caston at Bob Copeland Field Saturday.

Kaleb Lutz and Drew Bowers had two hits and two RBIs each, and Zakk Parks had two hits and an RBI. Colton Ferverda had a hit and an RBI. Conner Dunfee, Elijah Jackson and Carter Meredith had one RBI each.

Ferverda allowed one hit and four unearned runs over the first two innings. He walked none and fanned five. Gamble pitched two innings and allowed two hits and one unearned run. Dunfee walked two and struck out two in a scoreless fifth.

Isaac Craig, Ryan Spin and Grant Yadon had one hit each for Caston.

Jonathan Pacheco, Caleb Gardner, Jace Rentschler and Dominic Wolfe had one RBI each.

Spin was knocked out one out into the first inning after allowing nine hits and nine earned runs. He walked four, hit a batter and struck out none.

Yadon allowed no earned runs in 2 ⅔ innings of relief. Craig pitched a hitless fourth with two strikeouts.

Caston scored four runs in the top of the first, but Rochester answered with 14 in the bottom half.
