North Judson (1-0, 1-0 Hoosier North) at Caston (0-1, 0-0), 7:30 p.m.
Caston senior quarterback Landon Shafer threw for 141 yards in a 26-8 loss to West Central last week, setting a new career high for passing yards in a game.
He completed passes to five different receivers, and Grant Yadon, Quinlan Kelly and Evan Howard all had multiple receptions. Kelly caught a touchdown pass in the first quarter.
However, Caston was held to 16 yards rushing, and now they will have to face Class 1A, No. 4 North Judson, who has a defensive lineman in Logan Radtke who made the coaches junior all-state team last year.
The Blue Jays beat Culver 45-12 last week, finishing the game with 25 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
Cheyenne Allen, another junior all-state last year, scored four touchdowns against Culver and is a threat as a runner, a receiver and kick returner.
Caston has never defeated North Judson in football. Three of Caston’s next four opponents – North Judson, Triton and LaVille – received some Associated Press poll recognition this week.
