Winamac’s Disinger takes 4th in shot put at Valpo regional

Boys track

Led by Charles Disinger’s fifth-place finish in the shot put, the Winamac boys track team scored four points and finished in a tie for 22nd place at the Valparaiso boys track regional Thursday.

Disinger’s throw of 51-3 1/4 accounted for all of Winamac’s points. Chesterton won the meet with 109.33 points.

Disinger had a 50-0 throw to finish second at the Rensselaer sectional May 22.

Among other Winamac athletes, Ethan Burgess finished 13th in the 400 meters in 52.23 and 16th in the 200 in 24.20, and Logan Fredel and Nathan Pierzchalski took 11th and 15th, respectively, in the 3,200 in 10:05.09 and 10:44.76.

Also, Hayden Taylor was 13th in the long jump with a leap of 19-8.

The top three athletes in each event plus those meeting a difficult qualifying standard advanced to state.
