Zebra boys receive first poll votes of season

Boys basketball

The Rochester boys basketball team is ranked No. 13 in this week’s Associated Press Class 2A poll. It’s RHS’ first poll votes of the season.

The Zebras are 14-1 overall and 7-0 in the Three Rivers Conference and are in the midst of an 11-game winning streak. They host Peru at 6:15 p.m./7:45 p.m. (JV/Varsity) Friday.

Triton at Rochester, canceled: The Triton-Rochester boys basketball game scheduled for Tuesday was canceled due to snow.

Triton is ranked No. 13 in Class 1A, and the Zebras are ranked No. 13 in Class 2A.

Boys swimming

Rochester 107, Plymouth 53 (Feb. 2): The visiting Zebras won eight of the 12 events in a dual meet against Plymouth in their final competition before this week’s Warsaw sectional.

Jake Seuferer won both the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly and also swam a leg on the victorious 400 freestyle relay.

Other Zebra individual event winners included Wes Steininger in the 200 freestyle, Anthony Peterson in the 50 freestyle, Braxton Jimenez in diving and Peyton Hiatt in the 500 freestyle.

RHS also won the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Ethan Brady and Dylan Steininger joined Peterson and Hiatt on the 200 freestyle relay. Hiatt, Brady and Peterson joined Seuferer on the 400 freestyle relay.

Jimenez, Bradly Bickle and Kadin Kelly went 1-2-3 in diving.
