Argos senior Madi VanDerWeele has signed to continue her academic and basketball careers at Manchester University.
Manchester is an NCAA Division III school located in North Manchester. Josh Dzurick just finished his 16th season as Manchester’s coach. He also is the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance at the school.
“I knew that they would give me a chance to play basketball, and once I went and visited and met the team and coach Dzurick, I just knew that it was definitely made for me, and I was just really excited to start.”
VanDerWeele said Dzurick “seems pretty hardcore” but said that VanDerWeele is on the right track as a player.
“He told me that as the player that I am, if I just continued to work hard and work on the small things, it would be a good season, and I could help the team out a lot,” VanDerWeele said. “I just really liked his energy and his goals for the team.”
Argos went 9-11 last year. They went 9-4 after an 0-7 start. The season ended with an overtime loss to Triton in the sectional final.
VanDerWeele averaged 8 points per game and was also one of the team’s top passers.
